All Steels Trading’s Golf Day 2017

All Steels Trading would like to thank everyone who attended our recent golf day/dinner at Rudding Park Golf Club & Hotel in Harrogate and helped to make the day/evening go with a truly fantastic swing!

It’s fair to say that the emphasis for the biennial All Steels Trading invitation golf day/dinner will always be on having fun but coupled of course with a slight edge of healthy competition! All teams/players were equally blessed with glorious sunshine during their round of golf but the accompanying afternoon wind made for difficult conditions on Rudding Park’s Hawtree Course for all of the golfers.

Despite all of the challenges presented some pretty impressive golfing action was most definitely seen and that included some very promising shots made by participating members of All Steels Trading’s sales office. It’s good to know that their numerous professional golf lessons taken in preparation for the 2017 AST golfing event were not all in vain!

After the final putt was taken it was already time for the players to head straight over to Rudding Park Hotel post a quick change of attire for the evening dinner. The much anticipated prize giving ceremony certainly rounded off the golf day/dinner very nicely leaving our guests and All Steels Trading’s colleagues all looking forward to the next classic AST golf day/dinner!

Ten Goal Epic Ends in a Draw!

All Steels Trading’s very own Jon Jacobs and Lee White once again joined ranks with fellow office and works employees in sister business Tomrods for a friendly game of six a side football after hours on Friday 14th August 2015.

As per tradition retired Tomrods Commercial Director Keith McKee’s renowned and unbiased football refereeing skills were called upon as the Reds and Blues battled it out on the pitch each hoping to secure a clear match victory.

Despite an impressive flying start from the Blues who at one point quite early on in the game led 3-0 up they ultimately conceded five goals, which were each creatively delivered into the net by the Reds' forwards. So at the final whistle the overall score was a frustrating 5-5 draw for all concerned only made less bitter by the rewarding taste of the ‘take it on the house barbecue grilled food and cold drinks bar!’

You have to admit that the newly purchased opposing house team kits did look pretty impressive despite the fact that on the day all the Blues’ matching shorts had accidentally been left out of their team kit bag!

The Blues

The Reds

The running match goal scores/strikers list:

1-0 Blues – Craig Monk

2-0 Blues – Igors Alabjevs

3-0 Blues – Tim Whiting

3-1 Blues – George Thompson (penalty)

4-1 Blues – Kevin Shaw (penalty)

Half Time

5-1 Blues – Craig Monk

5-2 Blues – Neil Latcham

5-3 Blues – Max Russell

5-4 Blues – George Thompson

5-5 (last brilliant kick of the game) – George Thompson

No firm date has been set yet for the next AST/Tomrods Reds versus Blues game but you can bet it won’t be too long before we all get to see those sporting outfits being so handsomely modelled for the second time around etc.

All Steels Trading's Trophy Day!

Rudding Park, Harrogate Friday 5th June 2015

There's apparently a tradition among golfers that is an "unofficial" rule i.e. if a golfer is lucky enough to strike a hole in one, he/she will celebrate properly after his/her round is over, by buying a round of drinks for everyone in the club, at the bar!  Fellow guests at All Steels Trading's inaugural golf day were understandably delighted that Neil Turner was only too thrilled to fulfil this obligation after scoring his first ever hole in one on the 8th hole of the championship par 72 Hawtree Course at Rudding Park, whilst participating in All Steels Trading’s golfing fixture. It’s fair to say that Neil’s wonderful achievement and sporting/alcoholic gesture also contributed to keeping the AST invitation day event going with a real swing during the evening celebratory dinner too!

There was also certainly some impressive golf on display from numerous other guests, which resulted in a pretty close competition overall but there could only be one triumphant winner for each of the following All Steels Trading golf competition categories!

Friday 13th Not So Unlucky for All Steels Trading!

All Steels Trading were happy to take a risk on a historically unlucky day and entered a team in the NEASS Annual Golf Competition, which took place this year on Friday 13th September on the Cheshire Course at Carden Park.

The challenging course reminiscent of the finest British heathland golf courses offered a wealth of natural hazards! However, despite this and some tough competition coming from the likes of rival sister company Tomrods’ team The All Steels Trading players kept their cool and triumphantly secured the First Team Prize with a winning score of 81 points. The All Steels Trading Team comprised the following members: Managing Director Laurence McDougall with guests Steve Unwin & Ian Hardy from Caparo Merchant Bar & Alan Burton from 247 Design & Print.

The team can now all look forward to playing 18 complimentary holes on the PGA National course at the Belfry as well as a 30 minute lesson with a Senior Teaching Professional at the Golf Club. The huge applause doesn’t end there because in addition to the victorious First Team Prize Managing Director Laurence McDougall also skilfully won the Individual Winner Prize on the day! So we now have two beautiful new trophies to add to the collection in the Boardroom at Thirsk in recognition of All Steels Trading’s sporting as well as steel trading know-how!
